Communication by light
Crosswalks – If the car identifies a pedestrian at the side of the road, it can use light to communicate with them: “For example, the car can give the passer-by a signal to cross the road. It can also provide a warning if a car is approaching fast from behind,” explains Stephan Berlitz, Head of Development Light Innovations/unctions at Audi. “The pedestrian can’t see into the area behind the car, but the car can.” The vehicle is aided by cameras, radar and ultrasound sensors.
