In the future traffic flow will be increased significantly with autonomous cars, ride sharing and smart traffic management. People will have more time, cities more space. However, if we assume that cities do without digitalized infrastructure, the basic conditions for autonomous driving do not exist and ride-sharing is not given a chance, while demand for mobility rises as a result of urbanization and higher urban density, gridlock might be the result.
