Audi has opened a semi-knocked-down (SKD) facility at its new production site in Kaluga, Russia. Employees of Volkswagen Group Russia assemble the Audi A6 and the Audi A8 L for Audi in Kaluga. The SKD process entails vehicles being completely assembled at key Audi plants. They are then transported to a VW Commercial Vehicles site in Wedemark, Germany. Vehicles are disassembled in Wedemark and packaged as assembly kits, which in turn are shipped to Kaluga.
