Italdesign’s mission is to provide a wide range of services dedicated to the manufacture of new vehicles and industrial products.
Since 2010, the company has been part of the Volkswagen Group and, together with Audi, Lamborghini and Ducati, makes up the Audi Group.
The origins of Italdesign date back to February 1968, when Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani established a design studio with innovative ideas for the automotive industry. After nearly 50 years, the company’s mission has remained unchanged: providing the OEMs worldwide with creative and engineering solutions, pre-series prototypes, assistance with the manufacturing process and any support instrumental to the industrial production of new products.
Since its first major project — the Alfa Romeo Alfasud unveiled in 1971 — Italdesign has developed the car design for more than 200 models used by the world’s leading automotive brands to manufacture more than 50 million production cars.
Originally established to provide services to car manufacturers, since 1974 the company has embraced a new design challenge entering other mass-production sectors, such as product design. In addition, under the Giugiaro Design brand, the company operates within the following areas: means of transport (trains, airplanes, boats, etc.), consumer goods, packaging, corporate identity, graphic design and food design. The projects developed by Giugiaro Design epitomise a functional and distinctive design, responding both to the client’s brief and the market needs.
Today, Italdesign’s workforce numbers approximately 1,000. The company has a subsidiary in Barcelona and offices in Ingolstadt and Wolfsburg.
Italdesign has been crowned Top Employers in 2016 and 2017.
