Daniel Abt about the race
“I’m happy about Punta’s return to the calendar. We know the place from two races and two subsequent test days in the first two years. The track is absolutely unique: directly on the beach and along the seaside promenade and the houses with vacation rentals. This not only creates a special atmosphere but also makes for changeable conditions because sand keeps blowing from the dunes onto the track. Lucas was on podium twice in Punta and I’ve scored points there as well. So, depending on the current layout, the circuit should suit us.”

Additional info about Punte del Este
Punta del Este is a resort on a small peninsula in the southeast of Uruguay which is very popular with tourists and is often called “South America’s Monaco.” The town on the South Atlantic itself only has a population of a little less than 10,000. It is the 700,000 visitors per year that shape the face of Punta del Este with its highrise and apartment buildings along the coast. The Formula E race track is routed along the seaside promenade at the popular Playa Brava beach that is known for its strong surf. Punta del Este is located about 140 kilometers east of the capital city, Montevideo, with its population of about 1.3 million. With some 3.3 million inhabitants, Uruguay is the smallest Spanish-speaking country in Latin America but one of its most prosperous ones. It borders on Brazil in the north and – separated by the Rio Uruguay – on Argentina in the west.
