Audi set a new record in the Chinese market in 2014 and for the first time delivered more than half a million cars in China and Hong Kong (578,932), an increase of 17.7 percent compared with the previous year.

The model series produced in Changchun and Foshan, the Audi A3 Sportback, Audi A3 Sedan, Audi A4 L, Audi A6 L, Audi Q3 and Audi Q5 reached the new record of 495,900 units delivered. This represents an increase of 21.6 percent compared with 2013.

Audi’s growth in China was strengthened not only by accelerating sales in the upper range, but also by the A3 Sportback and A3 Sedan, which became available from local production in 2014, as well as by the entire SUV family. Twice as many Q3 models were sold as in the previous year (+103%). The Audi Q5 posted growth of 5 percent with deliveries of 109,751 units (including Hong Kong). The Audi A6 L also set a new record: 162,538 customers decided in favor of China’s best-selling business sedan (plus 6.1 percent).Sales of imported Audi automobiles were close to the prior-year level at 79,177 units sold (including Hong Kong).

China’s total car market expanded by 12.1 percent to 17.8 million units sold in 2014, whereby the premium segment recorded a growth rate of 20.5 percent to a volume of approximately 1.7 million vehicles.
